Without a foreign country and a visa, but not to the Crimea: where to go to the sea in summer

Do you want to sunbathe on the sunny seashore, but there is no desire to spend time, effort and money on paperwork? Those who understand “Subtleties” have selected six options for a beach holiday without unnecessary worries and formalities – both in Russia and abroad. Did you enjoy reading The Subtleties of Tourism? You know what to do 😉

1. Taman Peninsula

Wide sandy beaches, clear water and affordable prices are just a few reasons to come to the Taman Peninsula. It is washed by the Black and Azov Seas, and on the Tuzla Spit, which is 8 km from the village of Taman, you can swim in both at once. For a relaxing family holiday, the coast of the warm and shallow Sea of u200bu200bAzov is more suitable (the village of Golubitskaya, the villages of Ilyich, Peresyp), and on the Black Sea coast, in the villages of Volna or Veselovka, there are more entertainment. Beach holidays can be combined with mud therapy, fishing and windsurfing, trips to the lotus valley, visits to archaeological sites of ancient cities, museums and zoos.

2. Primorye

You can also swim and sunbathe in the Far East, for example, in the Sea of Japan: the beach season opens in mid-July, when the water warms up to +21 ℃. The most accessible recreation areas are located in the vicinity of Vladivostok – Shamora Bay in the picturesque Ussuri Bay, framed by wooded capes, Pogranichnaya Bay with emerald water and white sand, and the famous Glass Bay, the coast of which is strewn with pieces of multi-colored glass. Far from big cities, there are wild and hard-to-reach beaches that amaze with fantastic landscapes – Yezhovaya, Petrov and Triozerye bays. The Pacific coast with high waves is a paradise for surfers.

3. Kaliningrad Region

Fine light sand, calm sea and developed infrastructure — the beaches of the Curonian Spit in the Kaliningrad region are rightfully considered the best in Russia. The widest and most comfortable beaches in the region are in the town of Yantarny: in 2016, one of them even received the Blue Flag for impeccable cleanliness. But in Zelenogradsk and Svetlogorsk, only a narrow strip of sand stretches along the sea. The most beautiful beach is in the village of Donskoye. Here you can swim at the foot of a high steep bank, overgrown with pine forests.

The season on the Baltic Sea is short: the water warms up properly only by the end of July – beginning of August and cools down in mid-September. In the shallow Curonian Lagoon, you can swim longer, sometimes already from the middle of May. /f550x700/9s/ka/9skarpl7cv8ks848404c8g0s4.jpg” media=”(max-width: 549px)”>

4. Dagestan

Dagestan cannot be called a popular beach resort, but there are coastal recreation areas in this mountainous republic washed by the Caspian Sea. You can even plunge into its waters in Makhachkala, but the sea and coast here are not sparkling clean, so the residents of the capital prefer neighboring Kaspiysk with a renovated embankment and city beach. You can also swim and sunbathe in ancient Derbent, taking a break from long walks along its narrow streets. The best beach in Dagestan is located in Izberbash: the wide coast here is covered with fine sand, the sea is warm and calm, the depth decreases gradually, and the season lasts from May to October.

5. Abkhazia

Sukhum, Gagra, Pitsunda, Gudauta and other resorts of hospitable Abkhazia are a proven alternative to the overloaded coast of the Krasnodar Territory. It has everything for a relaxing holiday: the cleanest sea, fresh air, uncrowded beaches, majestic mountains, clear lakes. In order not to get bored on the coast, you can go on excursions to mountain gorges, visit ancient temples and monasteries, take a walk along the botanical garden or the embankments of Sukhum. And, of course, you should not ignore the delicious dishes of the Abkhazian cuisine. /f550x700/9j/hl/9jhlqw8mjgw84w0kskgk8g8w8.jpg” media=”(max-width: 549px)”>

6. Kazakhstan

There are seaside resorts even in the steppes of Kazakhstan, and the largest of them is the city of Aktau in the south-west of the country. This is a rather extreme version of a beach holiday: it is very hot here in summer, sandstorms sometimes occur, and there is practically nowhere to hide from the scorching sun – there is very little greenery. But in Aktau there are hotels of the world's largest chains, such as Marriott, and the picturesque coast of the Caspian Sea. There are few comfortable beaches within the city, it is much more pleasant to relax in the vicinity – at the camp sites in the Blue Bay and Kenderly Bay. And it’s better to come here not in the summer, but in September, when the heat recedes, and the water is still warm.
