According to Eurostat, following the citizens of Ukraine in the list of refuseniks, Albanians and Russians follow – 15,630 and 10,860 refusals, respectively. In general, the top three account for 40 percent of U-turns at the EU border in 2022.
The main reasons for refusing entry to Ukrainian citizens were violations of the term of stay in the Eurozone – 27% due to the fact that a person has already spent three months over a six month period. Another 21% is due to the lack of a valid visa or residence permit. In addition, 20% of refusals made to citizens of Ukraine were due to the lack of a justifying purpose and conditions for staying in the zone.
Last year, the top three in refusals were Ukrainians, Algerians and Albanians, and this year Albanians rose by one place, and Russians have replaced Algerian citizens.
The most common reason for refusals to enter the EU is security risks, threats to public order, health and national security.
Countries where during 2022 In 2018, the largest number of failures was recorded in Poland and Hungary, where 23,330 and 15,780 cases were registered, respectively. More than 40 percent of the 60,150 negative decisions came from Poland, Hungary, Croatia and Ireland.
