Open Library

The library is located right in a telephone booth in Praça de Londres, not far from the Alameda metro station. Anyone can borrow a book for free by signing themselves up in a special journal. You can also leave your own books for the library.

Urban art on the walls of the hospital

Gallery of urban art (Galeria de Arte Urbana) on one of the walls of the fence of the hospital and the city psychiatric center Hospital Júlio de Matos.

In 2012, the hospital administration invited well-known street artists to paint one of the walls for the International Mental Health Day, which is celebrated on October 10th. This is one of the largest urban art walls in Lisbon – the capital of Portugal – almost 1 km long.

<p>Fronteira Palace (Palácio dos Marqueses de Fronteira) was built in 1670 and owned by the family of the Marquises of Fronteira to this day, but it is open to the public.</p>
<p>In addition to a beautiful park with sculptures, several luxuriously decorated halls with unique panels made of traditional azulejo tiles of the 17th-18th centuries are available for viewing in the palace – one of the most valuable azulejos in Lisbon.</p>

Casa do Alentejo is located in the heart of Lisbon and is a real gem that few people know about. Renovated in 1918, this ancient 17th-century palace impresses with its stunning Arabic-inspired interiors and decorations.

Now it houses an iconic Alentegan regional restaurant and a tavern – obligatory points of visit during the gastronomic tour. There are several luxurious halls, a library, and all this is available for visiting absolutely free of charge. We highly recommend stopping by for at least a cup of coffee and admiring the interiors.

Casa Comunit&aacute ;ria da Mouraria

This place, hidden in the lanes of Moraria, is at the same time:

Ten years ago, the history of the community of the inhabitants of the old, but fallen into decay district of Moraria began here. Local residents gathered here, meetings, general dinners and holidays were held, the editorial office of the regional newspaper Rosa Maria, which is still published today, worked.
