By the end of 2022, Thailand expects to receive about 250,000 travelers from Russia. Titiporn Manenate, executive director for Europe, Africa and the Middle East of the Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT), clarified Friday that 90,000 of our compatriots have already rested in the kingdom since the beginning of the year.
Since the beginning of the year, about 5 million foreign tourists have already entered Thailand. By the end of the year, we expect to accept from 8 to 10 million. The first places among the countries from which most tourists come are Malaysia, India, Laos, Singapore, Cambodia. The Russian market is in seventh place in terms of tourist flow, ”she told reporters, Interfax reports.
At the same time, Titiporn Manenate emphasized that at the beginning of 2022 the forecast for Russian tourist flow was more optimistic – 1 million Russians .
“The main obstacle to the growth of the tourist flow now is the lack of direct flights. Without solving this problem, it is impossible to get a million tourists. Therefore, we have adjusted the forecast to about 250,000,” she said, adding that the bulk of transportation between Russia and Thailand is now carried out by third-country airlines on transit flights. It is expected that by the end of the year they will carry about 110 thousand passengers and another 20 thousand will be carried by Aeroflot, which plans to launch a direct flight to Phuket on October 30.
