On Thursday, March 24, Property Minister Titi Tuppurainen sent a letter to the state railway company VR, which stated that the further operation of trains is not advisable.
Currently, Allegro trains remain the only regular transport m between Russia and Europe, there is no air service.
In addition, it is reported that the government intends to refuse to finance the high-speed rail (HSR) project from Moscow to St. Petersburg from the National Welfare Fund (NWF).
Almost 500 billion rubles were reserved for these purposes, but now it has been decided to abandon the project. One of the reasons for this decision — a change in the financial model for the implementation of the project, which was possible in the pre-sanction period, but now has completely lost its relevance. Another reason is the decline in technological capabilities due to sanctions restrictions on imports.
