Spain extended entry restrictions for tourists from third countries until November 15

The news of the extension of the restrictive measures was announced by the Spanish Ministry of Health and published in the Official State Gazette.

According to the rules in force in Spain, all travelers from third countries will be required to present a number of documents in order to get permission to enter without restrictions.

The Spanish Ministry of Health explains that persons over the age of 12 from non-EU countries must present a vaccination certificate, a negative test or a certificate of recovery upon arrival.

At the same time, the vaccination certificate is considered valid if the holder has passed primary vaccination within the last 270 days and received a booster dose of the vaccine.

Validity requirements also apply to the certificate of recovery — it must be issued no more than six months ago.

Regarding negative tests for COVID-19, Spain accepts both PCR and rapid antigen tests. The PCR test must be taken within 72 hours before entry, and the rapid antigen test must be taken 24 hours before crossing the Spanish border.

In addition to the documents mentioned above, most travelers from third countries before traveling to Spain are also required to complete a Medical Control Form.

Medics explain that the authorities have decided to extend the entry requirements for COVID-19 to prevent an increase in cases now that colder months are approaching.

Data The World Health Organization shows that 14,885 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Spain over the past seven days. During the same period, 376 people died in the country.

In terms of vaccination rates, Spanish citizens have received a total of 102,924,722 doses of the vaccine so far. About 86 percent of the adult population received two vaccinations, and 66 percent added at least one booster dose to them.
