Traveling around Russia during the May holidays is in the greatest demand among Russian tourists.
“This year, for the May holidays, Russia is the undisputed sales leader. The volume of sales in Russian destinations is slightly lower than in the same period last year, let me remind you that it was a very difficult period then “,” Interfax quotes the words of the Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia Maya Lomidze.
In 2022, Russia had a tourist cashback program for traveling within the country, which stimulated the sale of tours. This year the program does not work, so there are fewer travelers.
Tours to the Krasnodar Territory — Anapa, Gelendzhik and Sochi are in the greatest demand. Their share is 40% of the total sales of tour operators. Russians also choose holidays in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Moscow and the Moscow region, Tatarstan.
“The Krasnodar Territory has risen in price the least. Crimea fell in price. St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region grew in price by an average of 15%, the Moscow region – plus 15%. Also, trips to Tatarstan and some cities of the Golden Ring have risen in price,”, — Maya Lomidze commented on the situation with prices for holidays in Russia.
