The average cost of booking in Russian hotels for the period from March 4 to March 12 decreased by 12% compared to last year and amounted to 14,400 rubles for three nights (16,300 rubles a year earlier). This is reported by specialists of the Ostrovok.ru online hotel booking service, who analyzed the reservations of Russian tourists and found out which hotels they reserved for March 8.
costing 4,500 rubles per night is 8% less than last year (4,900 rubles).
The most noticeable price change is observed in the category of five-star hotels – tourists pay an average of 12,800 rubles per day, which is 9% less than last year (14,100 rubles). In three-star hotels, the cost of daily accommodation decreased by 7% and amounted to 4,000 rubles (a year earlier – 4,300 rubles). In four-star hotels, the average cost of a night has not changed and amounted to 6,800 rubles.
In general, domestic destinations account for 81% of all bookings for the upcoming holiday week. Foreign destinations account for 19% of all holiday bookings. Among domestic destinations, St. Petersburg was the most popular city in terms of the number of bookings. The top 10 also included Moscow, Sochi, Esto-Sadok, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Irkutsk, Arkhyz, Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod.
In most destinations, the average cost of a booked night showed a decrease compared to last year:
- in Yaroslavl, tourists book accommodation for an average of 3,550 rubles, which is 33% less than in 2022 (5,300 rubles),
- in Kaliningrad – 3,500 rubles (- 30%, 5,000 rubles),
- in Sochi – 3,900 (-29%, 5,500 rubles),
- in Esto-Sadka – 10,650 rubles (-23%, 13,800 rubles),
- in Nizhny Novgorod – 3,950 rubles (-19%, 4,900 rubles),
- in St. Petersburg – 3,150 rubles (-15%, 3,700 rubles),
- in Arkhyz – 8 600 rubles (-14%, 10,000 rubles).
In some cities, an increase in the average cost of a night is observed:
- tourists pay 4 per night in hotels in Moscow 300 rubles, which is 19% more than a year earlier (3,600 rubles),
- hotels in Kazan – 3,300 rubles (+10%, 3,000 rubles),
- Irkutsk – 3,900 rubles (+5%, 3,700 rubles).
Traveling around the country, tourists most often choose three-star hotels – 23% of bookings, apartments – 18%, as well as four-star and non-star hotels – 17% each. Five-star hotels account for 5% of bookings.
According to Ostrovok.ru, Belarus, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Armenia, France, Uzbekistan, Spain and Kazakhstan became the most popular foreign destinations. Of these, some have significantly increased their share – for example, Thailand accounts for 16% of bookings (a year earlier – only 3%), the share of Belarus increased from 11% to 17%, Italy – from 1% to 6%.
The average booking check in hotels abroad is 42,300 rubles for five nights. The average cost of a booked night is 7,600 rubles.
The most expensive bookings among the top destinations are made by tourists in hotels in the United Arab Emirates – 15,700 rubles per night, as well as in France – 14,100 rubles. Travelers choose accommodation costing up to 10,000 rubles in Spain and Italy – an average of 9,600 rubles. Tourists reserve more budget accommodation in Turkey – 6,300 rubles, Kazakhstan – 5,900 rubles, Thailand and Armenia – 5,500 rubles, Uzbekistan – 4,700 rubles, Belarus – 4,000 rubles.
Russian tourists travel abroad prefer three-star (34%) and four-star hotels (33%), less often – five-star (11%). Apartments account for 9% of bookings.
