Dubai has been selected as a Michelin Guide in addition to 35 culinary destinations in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific. The Michelin Guide to the Emirate will give you a fresh look at the diversity and multicultural nature of Dubai's gastronomy. It is here that more than 200 cuisines of the world are served – from traditional Arabic to exotic Peruvian.
In 2021, Dubai has already received 7.28 million guests, which is 32% more than last year. These figures highlight the emirate's success in fighting the pandemic and reviving the entertainment and tourism sector. With the growing interest in gastronomic tourism, the launch of the Michelin Guide to Dubai this year will make the city an even more attractive gourmet destination.
Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism & Commerce Marketing Corporation, shared: “We are incredibly pleased that Dubai has become one of the destinations of the world famous Michelin guide. This recognition, along with the Tripadvisor Traveller's Choice Awards 2022, where our city was chosen as the world's most popular destination for tourists and travelers, tells us that the emirate is emerging as an international gastronomic hub. All these achievements have been made possible by the leadership of the emirate, who have set the goal of making Dubai the most popular tourist destination and the best city to live and work in.”
The choice of restaurants will be made according to five criteria: the quality of ingredients , the craftsmanship, the harmony of tastes, the individuality of the chef and the consistency both over time and on the menu.
Gwendal Pollenek, International Director of Michelin Guides, commented: “We are very pleased that Dubai has joined the Michelin family, and that in the middle of the year we will present our selection of “star” establishments to the public. We will showcase the best of Dubai's gastronomy, not only the luxury and opulence for which the city is famous, but also the diversity of cultures. Along with the outposts of many world-famous chefs, we will also be focusing on local establishments.”
In addition to the coveted “star” ratings, the guide's selection will also include the popular Bib Gourmand category, an award given to establishments that offer reasonably priced three-course meals.
Entire guide Dubai Michelin will be available online at guide.michelin.com, where users can filter establishments by location and type of cuisine to find restaurants that suit their individual preferences.
