Citizens of a number of countries will need to obtain an online travel authorization to visit the UK, which was not previously required
Since release from the EU, which lasted from 2016 to 2020, the UK government has not stopped looking for ways to strengthen the security of its borders and, it seems, an acceptable option has been found.
Electronic Travel Authorization is introduced as for tourists traveling to the UK, and for those who pass through the country in transit. They do not currently need a visa for a short stay.
It is not yet known how much a new permit will cost, but it is clear that obtaining a visa to the UK will cost much more. The Home Office estimates that it plans to process about 30 million applications each year.
The application process and more details about the system are expected to be published soon.
The list of countries whose citizens will need to apply to visit the UK by the end of 2024, although they do not currently need a visa to enter the UK, includes Australia, Andorra, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Vatican City , Hong Kong, Israel, Canada, Monaco, New Zealand, Singapore, USA, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan Canada.
The European Union, for its part, will also launch its own travel authorization system in 2024, which has been repeatedly delayed due to contractor delays.
