The Embassy of the Russian Federation in India gave an official clarification on the new terms of stay in the country for holders of electronic tourist visas. Now citizens with e-visa will be able to stay in the country for a total of no more than 180 days during the year.

At the same time, the period of a one-time stay in India has not changed and is 90 days. However, the total duration of stay in the state is strictly regulated, although previously it had no restrictions.

The new rules apply to already issued visas. In this regard, the Embassy of the Russian Federation recommends that Russians who are in India update previously received documents, and if any difficulties arise, contact the regional departments of registration of foreigners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.

It is worth noting that the change in visa rules in India became known at the end of February. Due to the lack of published official regulations, some ECs informed tourists that the total length of stay in the country by e-visa has now been reduced to 90 days. However, this information was ultimately not confirmed.

However, judging by the comments in the telegram channel of the Russian Embassy in India, many Russians still have questions about innovations. Yes, and in the republic itself there is a misunderstanding. “Why then does the visa center respond to calls and letters that 180 days are allowed for one visit, that is, without leaving? In stamps  also celebrate 180 days. Employees of the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office. – Approx. Ed.) Also confirm that 180 days of continuous stay, ”writes one of the users. However, there are no further clarifications yet.
