Cuba and Venezuela are exploring the possibility of using MIR cards.
Cuba and Russia are currently actively discussing the possibility of using cards of the MIR payment system on the island. This issue was considered by countries even before the coronavirus pandemic, but negotiations were suspended. It is expected that from the summer of this year, Russian tourists will be able to use MIR cards. Juan Carlos Escalona Pelliser, tourism adviser at the Cuban Embassy in the Russian Federation, told Izvestia about this.
At the Russian Embassy in Venezuela, Izvestia was also told that the Russian side had made an offer to the Venezuelan financial authorities to connect to the payment system ” WORLD”. The issue is currently being studied, so it is still premature to talk about implementation dates.
It is specified that MIR cards are now accepted in Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
