amid a record number of coronavirus cases over the past two weeks, two popular European countries – France and Germany – continue to receive tourists. The French Ministry of the Interior and the German Ministry of the Interior announced the admission rules.
The statistics are such that 941,669 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in France over the past seven days. During the same period, 1,507,979 new infections were registered in Germany. These figures were published by WHO. These are among the highest incidence rates reported by the two countries since the start of the pandemic. However, the current unprecedented situation with COVID-19 in France and Germany does not affect tourism: travelers who meet the necessary requirements are still allowed to enter.
By the way, after more than two years of hiatus for the coronavirus pandemic about the complete lifting a popular Scandinavian country announced a ban on entry for Russian tourists. Read the details in the material “Entry to the popular Scandinavian country is open for Russians.”
Admission to France
The French Ministry of the Interior has clarified that all travelers are currently allowed admission if they comply with entry measures. According to the ministry, travelers who have arrived in France from a Green List country are allowed entry without restrictions if they present a valid vaccination pass.
“Confirmation of the full vaccination schedule becomes sufficient for arrival in France, regardless of country of origin, as it was before the distribution of the Omicron variant,” the agency said.
Unvaccinated travelers and travelers from green-listed countries can also enter France on presentation of a current certificate of recovery or a negative COVID-19 test result – both PCR testing and rapid antigen testing are suitable. As for tourists arriving in a popular country from the “orange” list, they are also allowed to enter. They will be required to provide a vaccination certificate and a statement confirming they are free of COVID-19 symptoms.
Admission to Germany
Germany also allows most travelers to enter, but with documents confirming covid status. The German Federal Ministry of the Interior explained that all tourists aged 12 and over must present valid proof of their coronavirus status.
“Every person over the age of 12 is required to carry proof of their COVID 19 status when entering Germany. Therefore, persons over the age of 12 must have a negative test result or proof of recovery or vaccination upon entry into Germany,” the German Interior Ministry said in a statement. This means that all travelers planning a trip to Germany must have a current vaccination/recovery/testing certificate.
Which certificate is valid?
Both countries apply the same validity period for vaccination and recovery certificates. Both France and Germany accept a certificate if it states that the holder has completed vaccination within the last 270 days or has been revaccinated. In addition, the pass is valid if it proves that the tourist has recovered from the coronavirus in the last six months (180 days).
